Cheryl Ackert-Bicknell, PhD, Jackson Laboratory
Dr. Ackert-Bicknell is a postdoctoral fellow at The Jackson Laboratory. Dr. Ackert-Bicknell studies the genetic regulation bone mass with a particular focus on how fat, both dietary fat and endogenous marrow derived adipocytes, interact with bone to impact on bone acquisition. Osteoporosis is a highly genetically regulated disease.
Laurel Coleman, MD
Dr. Coleman is a Geriatrician and attending physician at Maine Medical Center’s Geriatric Clinic and on CMMC’s inpatient Palliative Care Team.
Jeffrey Dunn , MD, MBA, FACS
Dr. Dunn was most recently Senior National Medical Director for VHA. Prior, he served as Chief Medical Officer for Meridian Health System, and President of Meridian’s Ocean Medical Center. Dr. Dunn was also Professor and Chief of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at Temple University and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.
Lisa Letourneau, MD, MPH
Dr. Lisa Letourneau serves as the Executive Director of Quality Counts, a regional healthcare collaborative. Dr. Letourneau practiced emergency medicine for 7 years before beginning her work in clinical quality improvement. She went on to receive her Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health and served for 8 years as the Senior Director of Clinical Integration for MaineHealth.
Jo Linder, MD, MMA Program Chair
Dr. Linder currently serves as MMA President-elect. She is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and Director of the Division of Community & Preventive Medicine at Maine Medical Center. She received her medical degree from the University of Iowa.
Rick Maser, PhD, Jackson Laboratory
Dr. Maser has co-authored more than 20 publications and is co-holder of three patents involving DNA repair mechanisms. Among his honors is a Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation fellowship, awarded to “extraordinary young scientists across the nation who are committed to discovering the causes and cures for cancer.”
Susan Meisfeldt, MD
Dr. Susan Miesfeldt was an Associate Professor and Director of the Cancer Genetics Clinic at the University of Virginia’s Health Sciences Center, and since 1997, has been a member of the NIH’s Cancer Genetics Studies Consortium. Presently, she serves as the Medical Director for the Cancer Risk and Prevention Program at Maine Medical Center.
Kathleen Ober, MD
Dr. Kathleen Ober is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, holds a Masters of Medical Management, and is a member of the American College of Physician Executives. Dr. Ober, an experienced surgeon, was recently named Chief Medical Officer at the Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. She will hold this position while continuing to grow her practice at Blue Hill Women’s Health Care.
Dan Spratt, MD
Dr. Spratt is the Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in the Department of Ob/Gyn at Maine Medical Center, and Professor of Medicine on the part-time faculty of the University of Vermont Medical School. He heads the Endocrine Research Program at MMCRI, and is incoming chair of MMC’s Clinical Research Advisory Board.
Richard P. Woychik, Ph.D.
President and CEO, Jackson Laboratory
A world-renowned geneticist with a background in both academia and industry, Rick Woychik came to The Jackson Laboratory in 2002, but his deep connections to the Laboratory began nearly two decades ago. Dr. Woychik’s wide-ranging research interests include the molecular genetics of obesity and insulin-dependent diabetes, hearing loss and polycystic kidney disease.
