The Jackson Laboratory
The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit organization focusing on mammalian genetics research to advance human health. Its more than 1,400 employees include research groups in six major areas: Cancers, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Developmental and Reproductive Biology, Immunology, Metabolic Diseases, and Neurobiology.
The Jackson Laboratory is an NCI-designated Cancer Center, whose goal is to understand the fundamental mechanisms of cancer initiation and progression in the context of mouse biology and genomics. The Lab is also home to the Center for Genome Dynamics, the Jackson Aging Center, the Institute for Molecular Biophysics, and the Maine Institute for Human Genetics & Health.
