MICIS, the Maine Independent Clinical Information Service, is an innovative educational outreach program designed to provide independent clinical information to Maine physicians and other prescribers of medications. By aligning prescribing practices with the best scientific evidence on the treatment of common clinical problems, patient outcomes can be improved. While the primary goal of the program is to improve quality, the experience in other states has demonstrated that academic detailing also helps to control costs, which has important implications for improving access to care. CME is available to participating providers. Call the MMA at 207-622-3374 for more information.
