Peer Review Program
Overview
For more than thirty years, the Maine Medical Association has made available an external peer review program to Maine hospitals, practices and other healthcare facilities.
MMA’s Peer Review Program works with facilities to ensure there are no conflict of interest issues between our review team and the physicians being reviewed. Our peer review teams include credentialed board-certified physicians with active medical practices.
Each peer review report is reviewed by MMA’s legal counsel. This level of professional review ensures a report that assesses patient safety and liability issues, and provides the hospital or facility with an unambiguous basis for determining if additional peer review action is necessary.
For more information, please contact Dianna Poulin, Director of Peer Review and Quality, at 207-480-4194, or at dpoulin@mainemed.com.
