The Hannaford Center for Safety, Innovation and Simulation at Maine Medical Center

The Center is located at 335 Brighton Ave, 3rd Floor · Maine Medical Center · Portland, ME 04102

Medical education has reached a new level of sophistication in Maine with the arrival of the Hannaford Center for Safety, Innovation and Simulation at Maine Medical Center. This unique facility offers high-tech and realistic simulation, allowing medical students, residents, and current medical staff to learn new techniques and enhance their skills through repeated practice and review. More importantly, the work that goes on in this Center and the learning that is achieved ultimately has an impact on the quality of care and patient safety that we provide to those who choose Maine Medical Center for treatment.

The Simulation Center opened its doors on October 5th, 2010.  It is a fully dedicated facility for conducting both courses and research related to Standardized Patient and Simulation-based training, with emphasis on improving patient safety.  The new facility is spread out over 18,000 square-feet on the third floor of Brighton Medical Center.  The computer and audio-video infrastructure was designed to be totally integrated throughout the facility so that audio-video recordings can be retrieved and played back on any computer within the Center.
