Join our CME community and become a provider of Continuing Medical Education in Maine. This is a wonderful opportunity for growth in education and a commitment to your physicians and other health related professionals. Aside from the direct educational value of CME activities, documentation of CME credits is a requirement in Maine for licensure, each physician licensed by this Board who is actively practicing medicine and surgery shall complete during each biennial licensing period, a minimum of one hundred (100) credit hours of continuing medical education subject to the following: 1. At least forty (40) hours must be in Category 1, 2. The total one hundred (100) hours may be in Category 1 and 3. No more than sixty (60) credit hours may be in Category 2. In addition, many managed care companies, hospitals and medical centers around the country require documentation of CME credit for appointments and promotions. The AMA recommends that physicians obtain a minimum of 50 category 1 credits in any given year. It is MMA’s experience that educational activities certified for CME credit have a greater credibility to physician participants, as they have been screened carefully for scientific merit and industry bias using the ACCME criteria. If your institution is interested in providing CME to your professionals please call Gail Begin at 207-588-6619 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
