Become a CME Provider

Join our CME community and become a provider of Continuing Medical Education in Maine!  This is a wonderful opportunity for growth in education and a commitment to your physicians and other health related professionals.  Aside from the direct educational value of CME activities, documentation of CME credits is a requirement in Maine for licensure.  It is MMA’s experience that educational activities certified for CME credit have a greater credibility to physician participants, as they have been screened carefully for scientific merit and industry bias using the ACCME criteria.

To be a CME Provider, your organization must not be an ineligible company whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients.

Reference the Guide to the Initial Accreditation Process to determine if your organization is eligible to be a CME Provider, for a timeline for initial accreditation, and what to expect during the process.

If your institution is interested in providing CME to your professionals, complete the Pre-Application Form and submit the form along with the pre-application fee to the Maine Medical Association at PO Box 190, Manchester, ME 04351.

If your organization is determined to be eligible and appears to have the structures in place to meet accreditation requirements, you will complete and submit the Initial Accreditation Self-Study Report and the Initial Accreditation Performance-in-Practice Structured Abstracts for two activities.

Please contact Elizabeth Ciccarelli at 207-480-4186 or eciccarelli@mainephysicians.org with any questions.
